Odi’s first time in Ghana was not as a missionary, but he was in search for a ship to work with as he was a sailor. Odi was just a young Christian back then with little faith as he was not brought up in a Christian home. Odi later left Ghana after 3 years of staying in Ghana and came back in the same year to begin his missionary Journey with Trina in Eastern Region, Ghana.
It started as Odi was working with schools, churches, non-profits and communities using Community Health Evangelism (CHE) tools. Then he was starting to notice some of the problems with some of these organizations and local families, and it became a burden to Odi and Trina as their hearts were willing to help solve these problems through the power of the Holy Spirit. They noticed that there were many churches that didn’t have mission and outreach teams, and they were not able to reach out cross-culturally to the unreached. Some of these churches were not teaching/preaching the true doctrine of Christ, probably due to lack of empowerment. Many non-profits were not empowered enough to reach out to the communities they were in, and children in most schools were not getting good education as one teacher would be with more than 50 students in one classroom and some families lacked the funds and knowledge of the importance of education for their children to go to school. There were several families struggling financially due to persecution as some of them would spend all that they have to send the male child to school and leave the female child at home with no education. As Odi continued to reach out to local families, schools, non-profits and churches with the necessary tools for discipleship and to help local families understand the importance of education for all of their children, he would disciple young ministers in different churches to help as CREMI volunteers. Together with the volunteers, Odi would empower students in schools, help to setup outreach and mission teams in churches and non-profits and do community-based development. Odi was stationed at Assemblies of God Church, Ghana, at that time as he would travel from there to Burkina Faso, Togo and Nigeria for this mission work.
